Room and board

The Bed & Breakfast offers 3 rooms with air conditioning for 2-4 persons – falling asleep with the sound of the sea included. All rooms have direct access to the sun terrace, reminiscent of a ship’s bow from where you might even spot some dolphins. On the terrace overlooking Lipari, Vulcano, Sicily and Mount Etna the Italian breakfast with cornetti, cappuccino, fresh orange juice and salty italian specialities is served. The guests can use 2 bathrooms and relax in a picturesque garden with hammocks between olive trees, overlooking the sea.

The B&B is also gallery and office of the Sicilian photographer Francesco and the German tour guide Barbara who takes guests on tours of the cinematic history of the Aeolian Islands and to culinary tours with cooking classes and tastings of wine, olive oil and capers.

Fishing village Rinella

Rinella, located in the south of Salina, is the island’s sunniest spot all year round. The B&B is very family friendly as close to the beach and in a very quiet location, no roads within a radius of 200 meters. The ferry terminal connecting Rinella with the neighboring islands is just a short walk from the house and the island’s only sandy beach is right outside the door.In the village there are several bars and restaurants and a small grocery store.

Rinella’s position is perfect as a base for hikes on the mountains. And the island’s central location in the heart of the archipelago is ideal as a starting point for excursions to neighboring islands.

Guest comments

If you are reading these comments it is because you’re fortunate enough to visit one of the most hospitable B&Bs in all of Italy! The real highlight of my 22 days abroad was the five days and nights at La Praia, especially those hours on your terrazzo. And I wanted to thank you both for your warm hospitality, the conversations, learning, and sharing. You both made the visit to Rinella and Salina very special. Even though I have been to Italy before, I had never experienced it in such a gentle and comfortable way.

We spent a marvellous week in peaceful Salina. La Praia is a very charming B&B and lies directly on the black sand beach from the fishing village Rinella. We had breakfast on the terrace with beautyful seaview. Francesco and Barbara know very well their island and are very helpfully. The trip with the fisherboat was great! We recovered us marvellously and look forward to next visit.

La Praia di Rinella is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful island of Salina! The most important thing: it’s just two steps from the beach!, and when we felt like reading a book in the sun without any other tourists around us we could hang out in the lovely garden! The port and bus stop are very close, so it was easy to get around and visit some other islands as well! The panorama is more than beautiful….and the atmosphere is great!, a quiet place where we felt at home. Francesco was very nice and helpful without disturbing. He could give us a lot of good advice on what to do around the island(s)….and on local food, wine and other specialties!
